Lois E. Dowler, 84, of Hoagland, Indiana passed away Wednesday afternoon, May 31, 2023, at Parkview Randallia Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Lois was born on August 29, 1938 in Van Wert, Ohio to LaDoyt “Doyt” and Mabel A. (Shively) Bell. She was united in marriage to Robert L. Dowler on September 7, 1958, in Van Wert, Ohio.
She graduated from Convoy Union High School class of 1956. She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church-Soest.
Lois faithfully served her family as a homemaker. She also worked for three years at Central Insurance in Van Wert as a typist in the Claims Department.
Lois loved attending her grandchildren’s activities, whether they were sporting, social, academic, or 4-H in nature. She felt a strong sense of being present in their lives to aid in their development as future members of society.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Robert Dowler of Hoagland, Indiana; son, Mike Dowler of Hoagland, Indiana; daughter, Sandi (Luke) Selking of Hoagland, Indiana; son, Paul (Karen) Dowler of Crawfordsville, Indiana; sister, Marcia Shaw of Van Wert, Ohio; nine grandchildren, Danny (Alyssa) Dowler, Casey (Marcus) Clindaniel, Jennifer Dowler, Heidi (Zach) Bush, Courtney (Scott) Stack, Grant (Sarah) Selking, Nathan (Kristy) Dowler, Andrew Dowler, and Jessica Dowler; and ten great-grandchildren, Laine Clindaniel, Calvin Clindaniel, Carter Bush, Ryan Selking, Karlie Selking, Connor Dowler, Addisyn Dowler, Hadley Dowler, and two more coming in the fall.
She was preceded in death by a sister, June Brown.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 5, 2023 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Soest in Fort Wayne - 9909 Wayne Trace, Fort Wayne, Indiana with Pastor Josef Henning officiating. Burial will follow at Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Soest.
Family and friends will be received from 5 to8 p.m. Sunday, June 4, 2023, at the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel in Monroeville, Indiana and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.
Preferred memorials are to Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Soest or the Salvation Army.
Arrangements are by Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel in Monroeville, Indiana.
