Lois M. Ballard

Lois M. Ballard, 90, of Decatur, Indiana passed away Sunday, June 4, 2023 at Adams Woodcrest in Decatur, Indiana.

She was born on March 19, 1933, in Adams County, Indiana to the late Hugh J. Moyer and the late Vivian Hope (Hart) Moyer. On March 24, 1951, Lois married Ronald L. Ballard and he preceded her in death on October 26, 2018.

Lois was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church in Decatur.

She was employed at Adams Memorial Hospital as an X-Ray Technician and worked in the kitchen. Lois retired from North Adams Community School with 27 years of custodial service.

Lois enjoyed crocheting, jigsaw puzzles, and was an avid IU basketball fan.

Survivors include her daughter, Pamela (Dwight) Haines of Decatur, Indiana; son, Ronald (Susie) Ballard of Decatur, Indiana; four grandchildren, Grace (Steven) Phan, Dr. Tiffany (Dr. Rajesh Rao) Ballard, Kimberly Sue (David) Fosnaugh, and Mindi Marie (Christopher) Matthews; and nine great grandchildren, Gabrielle Phan & Vivienne Phan, Lakshmi Rao, Arjun Rao, Michelle Marie Fosnaugh & Alex Arthur Fosnaugh, Ava Grace Marie Matthews, William Allen Matthews, and Weston Louis Matthews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Raymond D. Ballard in infancy in 1961; and three sisters, Goldie Eix, Altie DeRoo, and Edna Hoffman.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 11, 2023, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur with Pastor Whitney West officiating. Burial will follow in the Decatur Cemetery.

Family and friends will be received one hour prior to the service on Sunday, June 11, 2023 at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur, Indiana.

Preferred memorials are to First Baptist Church.
