Leonard J. King, of Decatur, passed away on Sunday, December 2, 2018.
He was born on May 12, 1930 in St. Mary’s Twp. Adams County, to the late John L. King and the late Glennis B. (Roop) King. He was united in marriage to Marcile (Manley) King on August 21, 1954 at the Church of God in Willshire, OH, she survives.
He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
He retired from General Electric of Decatur in 1989 with 31 years of service. He drove motor homes for Don Ray Drive-A-Way after his retirement. He served as president for UE Local 924, and faithfully served after his term as president assisting retirees for many, many years.
Leonard loved to garden and spend time with his family. He also enjoyed traveling to all 50 states.
Leonard was a former member of the Church of God in Willshire, OH; American Legion Decatur Post #43; Decatur Moose Lodge #1311; General Electric Quarter Century Club; Held various offices of the Pleasant Mills Alumni Association. He is also a current member of the Monroe United Methodist.
Survivors include his wife, Marcile King of Decatur; 2 daughters, Karen (Roger) Everett of Bluffton, Sheryl (Jim) Rauch of Decatur; three brothers, John J. (Joan) King of Rockford, OH, Terry King of DeGraff, OH, Dean (Kathleen) King of Willshire, OH; three sisters, Carolyn Braun of Hudson, MI, Linda (Robert) Railey of Des Moines, IA, Rita (Ken) Johansen of Dublin, OH; one brother-in-law, Wilfred Davis of Van Wert, OH; three grandchildren; Kristy (Scott) Twigg, Amy Rauch, Lori (Derick) Bailey; ten great-grandchildren, PFC Anthony (Ruth Elmer) Rauch, Cayden Rauch, Tristan, Gabe, Zain & Niah Bailey, Isaiah & Grace Deathe, Whitnie & Zach Twigg.
He was proceeded in death by his grandson, Bill Rauch; sister, Berneice Davis; brother-in-law Floyd Braun, sister-in-law, Shirley King.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur with Pastor David Myers officiating. Interment will follow in the Decatur Cemetery with Military graveside honors by American Legion Post #43 Color Guard.
Family & friends will be received from 9:30 a.m. till 10:30 am. Friday, December 7, 2018 at the Woodcrest Auditorium and also from 2:00-5:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, December 7, 2018 at Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur, and one hour prior to services on Saturday at Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur.
Preferred memorials are to Northeast Indiana Honor Flight or Monroe United Methodist Church.
