Leo E. Thieme, 93, of Decatur, Indiana passed away Saturday morning, September 14, 2024, at Adams Memorial Hospital.
Leo was born September 27, 1930, in Decatur, Indiana to Amos and Emma (Selking) Thieme. He was united in marriage to Margie A. Fawley on April 26, 1953, in Convoy, Ohio, and she preceded him in death on August 21, 2014.
Leo served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, American Legion Post #43, serving as the Past Commander of the Color Guard, VFW, Union Township Lions Club, and Bluecreek Conservation Club.
He was a self-employed building contractor with Thieme Construction for over 50 years.
Leo enjoyed the outdoors spending time fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed talking about fishing and hunting as well as his building adventures.
He is survived by daughter, LeAnn S. Thieme of Fort Wayne, Indiana; daughter, Angela A. Thieme of Fort Wayne, Indiana; sister, Deloris Cheatwood of Lawrenceville, Georgia; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Leo was preceded in death by a son, Scott A. Thieme; four brothers, Arnold Thieme, Alfred Thieme, Otto Thieme, and Norvin Thieme; and two sisters, Esther Nuerge and Marlene Wilson.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 23, 2024, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Decatur, Indiana with Pastor David Koeneman officiating. Burial will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery with Military Honors rendered by the American Legion Post #43 and the United States Army.
Family and friends will be received from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, September 22, 2024, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur, Indiana, and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.
Preferred memorials are to Immanuel Lutheran Church or the Union Township Lions Club.
