LaVerne S. Hartman, 87, of Berne, Indiana passed away Monday morning, January 13, 2025, at Adams Memorial Hospital in Decatur, Indiana.
He was born on October 25, 1937, in Berne, Indiana to the late Cleo A. and Clara K. (Biberstein) Hartman. LaVerne was united in marriage to Karen Smitley on December 18, 1958.
LaVerne honorably served his country in the Air National Guard.
He was member of the Berne Evangelical Church for many years and he taught Sunday School for several years.
LaVerne retired from CTS in Berne, Indiana after 37 years of service. He was also a professional photographer.
He loved photography and taking pictures.
LaVerne is survived by his wife, Karen Hartman of Berne, Indiana; daughter, Diann (Randy) Ringger of Berne, Indiana; son, Kevin (Kathy) Hartman of Florissant, Missouri; seven grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his three sisters, Mildred E. Arnold, Louise M. Hartman, and Shirley A. Swoveland; and one brother Leon L. Hartman.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Berne Evangelical Church in Berne, Indiana with Pastor Bruce Rocke officiating. Burial will follow at Berne Evangelical Cemetery.
There will be no visitation preceding the funeral on Saturday.
Preferred memorials can be given to Berne Evangelical Church.
