Larry G. Saalfrank, 77, of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
He was born on December 4, 1943 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to the late Wilmer Saalfrank and Betty (Springer) Saalfrank.
Larry was united in marriage to Marcia K. Scheumann on October 30, 1965 at St. John Lutheran, Bingen and she survives.
He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Soest, where he held many offices throughout the years. He was a member of HAAA (Hoagland Area Advancement Association).
Larry was a proud co-founder of Decatur Wire Die along with Otto Fuhrman and Duane Melcher, retiring in 2000. Prior to forming Decatur Wire Die, he was employed at Hoosier Wire Die in Ft. Wayne.
Larry was a simple man who greatly valued the time he spent with his family. The best gift they could give him was a hug. He had a great sense of humor and was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan, IU fan, and Colts fan.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years , Marcia Saalfrank of Fort Wayne, Indiana; daughter, Michele (Rob) Martin of Roanoke, Indiana; daughter, Jody (Jason) Boling of Fishers, Indiana; son, Ryan Saalfrank of Hoagland, Indiana; sister-in-law, Lou Ann Saalfrank of Hoagland, Indiana; brother, James Saalfrank of Hoagland, Indiana; brother, Ron Saalfrank of Hoagland, Indiana; sister-in-law, Bev Saalfrank of Hoagland, Indiana; sister, Diane (Dave) Harris of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; brother, Rick (Christy) Saalfrank of Hoagland, Indiana; and sister, Sandy (Kevin) Lee of Monroeville, Indiana; and five grandchildren, Hannah, Ben, Marissa, Mallory, and Maggie.
Larry was preceded in death by a two brothers, Jerry Saalfrank and Robert Saalfrank and two sisters-in-law, Annie Saalfrank and Susie Saalfrank.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Soest with Pastor Josef Henning officiating. The family requests that masks be worn for those attending the funeral.
Friends and family will be received from 3-7 p.m. Monday, November 29, 2021, at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Soest. At the family’s request, there will not be any visitation prior to the service on Tuesday at church. The family also requests that masks be worn.
Preferred memorials are to Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Soest; Hoagland Fire Department or Cancer Services of Allen County.
Arrangements are by Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur, Indiana.
