Larry D Gilbert

Larry D. Gilbert, 84, of Monroeville, Indiana passed away early Thursday morning, October 24, 2024, at Adams Memorial Hospital in Decatur, Indiana.

He was born on May 9, 1940 in Monroeville, Indiana to Orval and Violet (Jewell) Gilbert.  On October 17, 1959, Larry married Nona A. Richard in Fort Wayne, Indiana and she preceded him in death on May 19, 2017.

Larry was a member of the Moose Lodge in Decatur, Indiana.

He worked at Eckrich, International Harvester, Halls Specialties, and Montgomery Tank Lines.

Larry and Nona loved to go camping together.  He was always ready to help the neighbors with farming.  He liked to tell stories about his life, that everyone has heard more than once.

He is survived by his son, Brion (Connie) Gilbert of Monroeville, Indiana; son, Doug (Marta) Gilbert of Monroeville, Indiana; sister, Barbara (Ray) Steffes of Hoagland, Indiana; four grandchildren, Cody Gilbert, Cory (Melissa) Gilbert, Kendal (Tyler) Bennett, & Jordan (Corbin Kuhnle) Gilbert; and six great-grandchildren, Faith Putman, Amore Gilbert, Londyn Gilbert, Coen Gilbert, Jack Gilbert, and Baker Bennett.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Marvin Gilbert; and two sisters, Ruth (Ed) McDowell and Iva (Charlie) Stevenson.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel in Monroeville, Indiana with Rev. Harold Klinker officiating.  Burial will follow at Monroeville Memorial Cemetery.

Family and friends will be received on Monday, October 28, 2024 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel in Monroeville, Indiana, and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials are to Kate’s Kart.

Arrangements are by the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel in Monroeville, Indiana.
