L. Adeline “Addie” Lough, 97, of Decatur, Indiana passed away on Friday, April 4, 2025, at Adams Memorial Hospital in Decatur, Indiana.
She was born on October 22, 1927, in Willshire, Ohio to the late Floyd L. and Nelle (Stetler) Strickler. Addie was united in marriage to Nile Eugene Lough on May 9, 1950 in Kentucky and he preceded her in death on August 24, 1974.
Addie was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Willshire, Ohio where she had served as president for many years. In addition, she was active in the Old-Fashioned Farmer’s Association; Decatur Moose Lodge; Decatur V.F.W.; and Decatur Eagles Lodge. She proudly served as Mrs. Claus at the American Legion in Willshire and the Decatur Eagles Lodge.
She retired in 1989 from Decatur Industries after 20 years of service. She also helped at Strickler’s Auction Sales.
Addie’s secret to long life is Pabst Blue Ribbon, Colgate toothpaste, and Doublemint gum.
Survivors include her daughter, Jeanne Harvey of Decatur, Indiana; daughter-in-law, Linda (Mike) Brinkman of Fort Jennings, Ohio; grandchildren, Emily (Eric) Brown, Denny (Lora) Lough, Bill (Kylie) Harvey, Christa (Tim) Koons, and Darrin Harvey; and great-grandchildren, Chase Harvey, Zach Harvey, Blake Harvey, Isaac Sipe, Noah Sipe, Devon Koons, Madison Lough, Olivia Lough, and Tyler Lough; and great-great-grandchildren, Lailani Harvey, Mia Harvey, Analysia Sipe, Delilah Sipe, Dre Michael Sipe, and one on the way.
In addition to her parents and husband, Addie was preceded in death by a son, Nile Lynn Lough; four sisters, Lois Funk, Rosella Sovine, Irene Hoverman, and Hazel McMillen; and three brothers, Harold Strickler, Lester Strickler, and Floyd Strickler, Jr.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur. Burial will follow at Willshire Cemetery in Willshire, Ohio.
Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, April 7, 2025, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are to Mooseheart or Adams County Community Foundation – Cancer Fund.
