Kevin Joseph Emmanuel McDonald, 39, of Rockford, Ohio passed away early Thursday morning, June 18, 2020, as the result of a motor vehicle accident.
He was born on November 21, 1980 in Adrian, Michingan to the late Hoy Emmanuel McDonald and Cindy (Stuck) Marckel. He married Brandy Hunnicutt on June 18, 2003 and she survives.
Kevin was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church – Schumm, rural Willshire, OH.
He was a 2000 graduate from Bellmont High School. He was employed at Dolco Packaging in Decatur for 17 years.
Kevin spent hours with his son Russell playing with Legos, they would complete massive projects, only to have them taken down to start all over. Kevin was passionate about maintaining his physical fitness. He enjoyed lifting weights, which was passed down to him from his grandfather, Robert Stuck. In turn, his love for physical fitness was passed down to his daughter Samara. They enjoyed taking long runs in the country, sharing that passion together. Kevin started a family tradition of charcoal grilling “Cornish Hen” on Christmas Day. He then shared his grill master skills to his daughter Lillian, as they spent many hours together making meals for the family. Kevin enjoyed working on his 82 three quarter ton Chevy truck.
He is survived by his wife, Brandy McDonald of Rockford, OH; daughter, Lillian (Max) McVety of Rockford, Ohio; daughter, Samara McDonald at home; son, Russell McDonald at home; granddaughter, Zoey McVety of Celina, Ohio; mother & step-father, Cindy & Les Marckel of Decatur, Indiana; maternal grandfather, Rev. Dr. Robert (Louise) Stuck of Peru, Indiana; five sisters, Rachel McDonald, Sarah (Adam) Miller, Naomi (Brett) Melching, Melanie (Kent) Kershner, Abby (Jason) Bird all of Decatur, Indiana; Brandy’s family including parents, Tim & Rebecca Hunnicutt of Rockford, Ohio; three sisters, Rachael (Daniel) Girard of Decatur, Indiana, Natasha Hunnicutt of Rockford, Ohio, and Tessa (Cody) Vogel of Mendon, Ohio; and brother, Joseph (Elisabeth) Hunnicutt of Van Wert, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by maternal grandmother, Nelda Stuck; paternal grandparents, Hoy & June McDonald; and brother-in-law, Will Wolfe.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 24, 2020, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Schumm in rural Willshire, Ohio.
Family and friends will be received from 2 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2020, at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur and one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.
