Kevin P. Johnston

Kevin P. Johnston, 58, of Columbia City, Indiana passed away on Monday, May 13, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his family and friends.

He was born on April 6, 1966, in Fort Wayne, Indiana to the late Bernard P. “Barney” Johnston and the late Charlotte M. (Kees) Johnston. Kevin was united in marriage to Leisa M. Nelson on November 30, 1991, in Monroeville, and she preceded him in death on August 30, 2019. He then married Carrie L. Addis-Barcus on September 16, 2020, in Gatlinburg, Tennessee and she survives.

He graduated in 1984 from Heritage High School. Kevin attended Hoagland Community Church.

Kevin was hardworking and a model employee. He was employed at Hoosier Ajax for 18 years, Woodburn Diamond Die for 21 years, and also at Parkview Hospital as a Support Team Member for 2 ½ years.

Kevin enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Making sure their needs were met. He enjoyed being a “Pa Paw” as his grandchildren were the center of his world. Kevin began camping at a young age and was a part of the Monroeville Packers (Camping Club). He spent the last 25 years camping at the Jellystone Resort with his family and made numerous life-long friends. Kevin also enjoyed traveling any chance that he could get; especially, by cruising. Not only did Kevin enjoy cooking and entertaining for his friends and family he was also a food connoisseur. Kevin could light up a room with his smile, beautiful blue eyes, his contagious laugh, and had a story for every occasion. He had a unique sense of style and always the most photogenic person in the room.

Survivors include his wife, Carrie L. Johnston of Columbia City, Indiana; son, Jeremy P. Johnston of Monroeville, Indiana; three daughters, Kayla (Tristan) Jones, Samantha (Braden) Coffelt, Tabitha Barcus all of Columbia City, Indiana; brother, Ricky L. (Charlene) Johnston of New Haven, Indiana; two granddaughters, Madison & Mackenzie Johnston both of Monroeville; and a grandson, Rivington Jones of Columbia City; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 20, 2024, at Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel in Monroeville with Pastor Todd Buckmaster officiating. Burial will follow in the Monroeville Memorial Cemetery.

Family and friends will be received from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, May 19, 2024, at the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel in Monroeville, Indiana, and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Monday.

Preferred memorials can be given to Monroeville EMS or Fire or the grandchildren’s education fund (Checks payable to Carrie Johnston).
