Kenneth P. Singleton

Kenneth P. “Ken” Singleton, 93, of Decatur, Indiana passed away Thursday evening, November 14, 2024, at his residence. 

He was born on June 19, 1931 in Decatur, Indiana to Frank and Helen (Rayer) Singleton. On October 24, 1954, he was united in marriage to Carol J. Klusman.

Ken served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. 

He served as the Adams County Democratic Chairman for a period of time where he loved serving and creating lasting relationships with other Democrats. 

Ken served Adams County delivering fuel oil for many years and then moved on to owning his own fueling station. He also worked as the Adams County Highway Superintendent and 5 Points Auto and had also worked part-time for Fuhrman Electric.

He loved attending High School games where he watched his children and grandchildren play along with other nieces and nephews. 

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Carol Singleton of Decatur, Indiana; two sons, Douglas (Candy) Singleton and Dennis Singleton both of Decatur, Indiana; daughter, Diane (Rev. Gary) Hoffman of Rocky Mount, Virginia; two grandchildren, Luke (Jessica) Hoffman of Rocky Mount, Virginia; and Alexa (Brooks) Faurote of Decatur, Indiana; and three great-grandchildren, Haven Hoffman; and Zane and Ainsley Faurote. 

He was preceded in death by a brother, Roger Singleton and a sister, Kathryn Ritter.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur with Pastor Gary Hoffman officiating. Burial will follow at Decatur Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the American Legion Post #43 Color Guard. 

Family and friends will be received from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials are to Adams County Community Foundation – Cancer Fund.
