Kenneth L. Schueler

August 9, 1934 — September 16, 2023

Kenneth L. Schueler, 89, of Decatur, Indiana passed away Saturday, September 16, 2023, at his daughter’s residence.

He was born on August 9, 1934, in Decatur, Indiana to the late Gustav and Mathilda (Fackler) Schueler.

Kenneth was united in marriage to Marlene (Poeppel) Schueler on September 1, 1957.  She preceded Kenneth in death on December 30, 2020.

Kenneth was a veteran of the Korean War, where he served in the United States Army as a Sp3(T) Combat Engineer before being honorably discharged.

He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Preble where over the years he served in various offices.

Kenneth, along with his wife, was the owner and operator of Preble Feed and Grain.  He was also a long time bus driver for North Adams Community Schools.

Ken and Marlene loved to travel with their family and friends to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.  It was at their lake cottage that they enjoyed fishing, card games, and entertaining.  Lots of storytelling took place there, which is fondly recalled by everyone.  He loved his pets…and these companions provided him with great satisfaction.  He also was very proud of his garden and maintained one as long as he was able.

He is survived by his daughter, Connie (Lynn) Garner of Ossian, Indiana; son, Jeff (Julie) Schueler of Decatur, Indiana; four grandchildren, Nathan Garner, Samantha (Jeff) Stout, Jamie (fiance Kyle Hemsoth) Schueler, and Kevin Schueler; one great-granddaughter, Charlotte Stout; two step great-grandchildren, Madison and Lillian Stout.

Kenneth was preceded in death by two brothers, Halden and Paul Schueler, and three sisters, Lorien Cress, Mardella “Mardy” Reinhart, and Ruth Schamerloh.
