John W. "Bill" Mowery

John W. “Bill” Mowery, 71, of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away early Monday morning, January 2, 2023, at Stillwater Hospice Home in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

He was born on April 8, 1951  in Decatur, Indiana to Charles W. "Bill" Mowery and Esther (Geels) Mowery.

John graduated from Bellmont High School in Decatur and was a self-employed truck driver his whole life.

He was a member of the Michindoh Pulling Association. John enjoyed truck pulling, hunting, bench rest shooting, shooting trap and was a small plane pilot. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by son, Chris (Sara) Mowery of Decatur, Indiana; son, Paul R. Mowery of Decatur, Indiana; daughter, Lisa Mowery of Decatur, Indiana; son, Robert Mowery of Craigville, Indiana; mother, Esther Mowery of Decatur, Indiana; sister, Carolyn (Mowery) Hart of Ringgold, Georgia; brother, Paul C. (Nancy) Mowery of Decatur, Indiana; brother, Jim (Brenda) Mowery of Decatur, Indiana; sister, Janet (Mike) Burger of Hamilton, Indiana; brother, Tom (Mollie) Mowery of Fort Wayne, Indiana; sister, Kathy Bellinger of San Antonia, Texas; sister, Melinda (Eric) Paul of Anderson, South Carolina; and brother, Joe (Lisa) Mowery of Spartanburg, South Carolina. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, Adrienne Evans, Aubrey Moser, Alec Mowery, Colby Mowery, Alexis Mowery, Karlee Mowery, Grace Mowery, Casie Mowery, Austin Mowery and Lilly Mowery.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles W. “Bill” Mowery

A Funeral Liturgy will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 7, 2023, at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur with Fr. Dave Ruppert officiating.  Interment will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery Columbarium at a later date.

Family and friends will be received from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, January 6, 2023, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur and one hour prior to services Saturday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials are made to Stillwater Hospice Home or Parkview Cancer Institute.

Arrangements are by the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur.
