John D. “Big John” Leistner, 66, of Rockford, Ohio passed away Friday, November 20, 2020, as a result of an accident.
He was born on April 18, 1954, in Decatur, Indiana to the late Paul Leistner and the late Barbara (White) Leistner.
He was a member of the Eagles #1292 in Rockford, Ohio and the American Legion.
John was a 1972 graduate of Parkway High School. He retired as a long haul truck driver for Moeller Trucking, logging over 6 million miles before retiring the first of 2020.
John loved his family, fishing, being outdoors, and enjoyed riding his Harley.
Survivors include son, Shawn (Angela) Stroh of Readyville, Tennessee; three sisters, Paula Reeves of West Salem, Ohio, Nelda (Gale) Thomas of Celina, Ohio, and Rose (David) McComas of Fort Wayne, Indiana; brother, Denny (Tina) Leistner of Auburndale, Florida; two grand-daughters, Lacy and Allie Stroh; many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 27, 2020, at Bethel Brethren Church in Berne, Indiana with Pastor Joe Nass and Pastor Tim Broughton officiating. Interment will follow in the Kessler Cemetery in Chattanooga, Ohio.
Family and friends will be received from 9:00a.m. - up until the 11:00 a.m. service Friday, November 27, 2020, at Bethel Brethren Church in Berne, Indiana.
Preferred memorials can be made to the Wounded Warrior Foundation and Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
