John L. Daugherty

John L. Daugherty, 77, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away Sunday, November 5, 2023, at Life Care Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

He was born on January 10, 1946, in Monroeville, Indiana to the late LeRoy Daugherty and the late Mable (Shirely) Daugherty.

John served his country in the Marines during the Vietnam conflict from 1967 to 1968.

John was united in marriage to Deborahjo Lopshire on December 1, 1969, she preceded him in death.

He was a member of the Allen County 4-H Club and a former member of Monroeville UM Church.

John graduated from Hoagland High School in 1964.  He worked as a Supervisor for Glenbrook Mall for over 15 years.  He also worked for Walmart on Maysville Road.

John enjoyed playing fast-pitch softball for many years in Monroeville. He also enjoyed playing cards, watching sports events, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his two sons, Kerry (Lisa) Daugherty and Jamie (Danielle) Daugherty both of Fort Wayne, Indiana; sister, Sheryl Daugherty of Fort Wayne, Indiana; and five grandchildren, Christopher, Bryon, Jesse, Kyle, Dakota, and AJ Daugherty.

John was proceeded in death by his son, Christopher Daugherty; two brothers, Rex Daugherty and William Daugherty; and two sisters, Maxine Brown and Shirley DeWitt.

A public graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 10, 2023 at Monroeville Cemetery with Pastor Ralph Klinker officiating. Military graveside honors will be rendered by American Legion Post #420.

Preferred memorials can be given to the Wounded Warrior Project or American Legion Post #420 and mailed to the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home – 520 N. 2nd St. Decatur, Indiana 46733.
