John Elvin Alexander , 56, of Monroeville, IN passed away Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Adams Memorial Hospital Emergency Room after suffering an apparent heart attack while at work.
He was born on Friday, June 15, 1962 in Portland, IN, the son of Joe L. Alexander and Sarah (Kraner) Rhoades, who both survive. He married Michele Hart on September 18, 1982 at East Liberty United Methodist Church in Monroeville and she survives.
John was currently employed at Thunderbird Products in Decatur as a welder. He was the former owner / operator of Johnny's Restaurant in Monroeville. After he sold the restaurant, he was a truck driver for JADE Trucking in Monroeville until he returned to Thunderbird. This was his second time of employment at Thunderbird. Before he became involved with the restaurant, he was employed for over 25 years at Thunderbird as a power and propulsion specialist. He enjoyed the traveling that came with this job, especially to Florida. His children have fond memories of the numerous trips to the airport where they would either drop off or pickup John from one of his trips.
Spending time with his family was very important to John. His children enjoyed the memories that were created over the years. John also had a hobby of rebuilding cars. He would buy a car…to make it go faster than when he got it. He enjoyed motorcycles and spent time riding whenever he could. He had quite the eclectic taste…enjoying loud motors in addition to loud colors.
