Jimmie D. Marquiss , 72, Decatur, Indiana passed away Saturday, January 1, 2022, at Parkview Randallia Hospital, in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

He was born June 13, 1949, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the son of the late Ford O. Marquiss and the late Myrtle E. (Brinneman) Marquiss. Jimmie was united in marriage to Kathy (Glisson) Marquiss on December 19, 1970, in Fort Wayne.

He proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War from 1971 to 1975.  He was currently a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Van Wert, Ohio and a former member of Decatur Baptist Church.

Jimmie retired from the New Haven USPS after 22 years of service.  He was passionate about being with his family, gardening, cooking, baking, and eating chocolate. In his earlier years, he enjoyed hunting, camping, and other outdoor activities. He was active in his church. Jimmie was very appreciative of veterans and always gave back to them when he could. He was especially proud of his two grandsons who are currently serving in the Army.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy Marquiss, of Decatur, IN; daughter, Annette (Bobby, Sr.) Johnson, of Wren, OH; daughter, Jevne (Chuck) Marquiss-Vachon, of Monroeville, IN; daughter, Elizabeth (Kyle) Knittle, of Wren, OH; son, Adam (Heather) Marquiss, of Elida, OH; 14 grandchildren, Tyler (Tyler Leann) Johnson, Caleb (Kaylee) Johnson, Nicholas Vachon, Bobby (Mesa Brumette) Johnson, Jr., Zachery Burdette, Jr., Zenediah (Alexis Dowdy) Burdette, Michelle (Cole) Allison, Payton (Kiya Wollenhaupt) Knittle, Kendall (Avery Martin) Marquiss, Paul Knittle, Chase Vachon, Rylynn Marquiss, Gavin Vachon, Colin Vachon; and nine great-grandchildren, Mackenzie and Camden Johnson, Damien and Abigail Allison, Mattex Johnson, Everly and Emmett Johnson, Zaila Burdette, and Zyrion Burdette.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Kenneth, Keith, and Charles Marquiss; and sister, Olive “Dollie” Stair.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 7, 2022, Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur with Pastor Jim Burns officiating.  Interment will follow in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Montpelier, Indiana.

Friends and family will be received from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 6, 2022, and one hour prior to services Friday at Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur.

Preferred memorials can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Wounded Warrior Project, or Autism Speaks.
