Janice E. Grover, 71, of Decatur, Indiana, passed away at her residence surrounded by her family on Thursday, May 2, 2024.
She was born in Decatur, Indiana on December 31, 1952 to the late Lester Aumann and the late Evelyn (Thieme) Aumann.
Janice was united in marriage to Tim Grover on April 14, 1989 at St. John Lutheran Church -Bingen, and he survives.
She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church - Bingen. Janice served the Lord as a Sunday school teacher for over ten years, a member of the Altar Guild, a sub aid at Wyneken, volunteering with St. John Cancer Pad Sewing for NE Indiana, a member of the handbell choir, was instrumental in supporting the families with the nursery roll Growing In Christ, and a volunteer with the Adams County Cancer Coalition for many years. She used her sewing talents, along with the ladies of St. John, by creating many dresses for the mission trip to Tanzania, Africa in 2022. She was honored to present them to the children in Tanzania with words of the Gospel. She was selfless in her dedication to serving others.
Janice was employed by Decatur Wire Die (Esteves DWD) for 33 years. She also worked at The Galley in Decatur.
Faith, family and friends were the leading ideals that guided Janice in her life. She cherished spending time with her 12 grandchildren. She enjoyed making homemade family games for the holidays and family vacation trips. She loved working in her flower and vegetable gardens. She loved her shopping trips with her grandchildren. Everyone enjoyed her cooking and baking, especially her famous apple dumplings. Janice and Tim traveled many places together, some of which included China, Hawaii, Africa and Germany. The most memorable trips were the ones they took with family over their 35 years of marriage, culminating with her presence at her grandson’s wedding in March in Texas.
Survivors include her husband, Tim Grover of Decatur, Indiana; son, Shane (Erika) McBride of Decatur, Indiana; son, Chad (Jill) McBride of Decatur, Indiana; son, Michael (Lisa) Grover of Commerce TWP, Michigan; daughter, Crista (Lucas) Elias of Churubusco, Indiana; sister, Kay (Rick) Ellinger of Greensburg, Indiana; grandchildren, Bailey (Cheyenne) McBride, Keegan Byrnes, Adyson McBride, Mikayla Byrnes, Kayla Elias, Carson McBride, Ella Elias, Grant McBride, Dylan McBride, Austin Grover, Cali McBride, and Carter McBride.
In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in death by three brothers, Rick, Tim, and Thomas Aumann.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a. m. on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at St. John Lutheran Church – Bingen, with pastor Peter Brock and Pastor Berett Steffen officiating.
Burial will follow in St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery, Bingen.
Family and friends will be received from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, May 10, 2024 at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home – Decatur and from 9 - 10 a.m. Saturday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, Janice asked that preferred memorials be given to Worship Anew, St John Bingen –Tanzanian Mission, Wyneken Athletics-Wrestling, or Adams County Cancer Coalition.
