Janice A. Fuelling

Janice A. Fuelling, 81, of Decatur, Indiana passed away on Saturday morning, December 7, 2024, at Lutheran Hospital of Fort Wayne, Indiana.

She was born on July 15, 1943 to the late Walter and Helen (Backus) Krueckeberg. 

Janice was united in marriage to Eugene Fuelling, son of the late Oscar and Alvina (Schroeder) Fuelling on September 24, 1966, at Zion Lutheran Church, Schumm. 

She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Decatur, where Janice was instrumental in the formation and operation of the Immanuel House, providing clothing and other items for those in need in the community. 

She had a passion for clothing retail starting with Kiddie Shop in Decatur, L.S. Ayres (now Macy’s) in Southtown Mall and Glenbook Mall in Fort Wayne.

Janice enjoyed watching IU Basketball, traveling to many beaches, and had an eye for decorating. Above all she loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Eugene Fuelling of Decatur, Indiana; daughter, Julie (Kim) Hurst of Decatur, Indiana; son, Jeff (fiancé Kenzie Funk) Fuelling of Decatur, Indiana; brother, Jim (Bev) Krueckeberg of Convoy, Ohio; brother, Ken (Julie) Krueckeberg of Decatur, Indiana; also Gene’s Family his brother, Roger (Arlene) Fuelling of Decatur, Indiana; six grandchildren, Nic (fiancé Taylor Reynard) Krick, Hailey Fuelling, Bryce Fuelling, Jake Krick, Avree (Kyle) Fourman, Zoe (Chandler)Cox; one great-granddaughter; many nieces and nephews.

Janice was preceded in death by Gene’s family including a sister, Marilyn (Bob) Lehrman, a brother, Arlen (Alanova) Fuelling.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Decatur with Pastor David Koeneman officiating. Burial will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Decatur.

Friends and family will be received from 2-4 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. on Friday, December 13, 2024, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Decatur with and hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. 

Preferred memorials can be made to Immanuel House.
