Janet E. Sheets,79, of Decatur passed away Thursday, December 30, 2021, at her residence.
She was born on July 19, 1942 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to the late Edward Shaffer and Mary (Fruechte) Shaffer.
Janet was united in marriage to Dwight Sheets Jr. on August 7, 1966 in Adams County, and he preceded her in death on March 12, 2015.
She was a member of Salem Magley Church and was on the women’s guild at the church for many years.
Janet graduated from Monmouth High School Class of 1960. She worked as a bank teller for First State Bank (Norwest) in Decatur until her retirement. Following her retirement, she worked part time for North Adams Community Schools in the cafeteria in the food services.
Janet enjoyed cross-stitching, sewing, flower gardening and spending Precious Moments with her grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons, Jeff L. (Tana) Sheets of Decatur, Indiana and Tim A. (Chris) Sheets of Decatur, Indiana; a sister, Kay E. Seban; four grandchildren, Justin (Krista Thieme) Sheets, Jimmy (Kaitlyn) Sheets, Ashley Sheets, and Bryanna (Owen) Morris; and one great-grandson, Deacon Sheets.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents.
A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, January 6, 2022, at Salem Magley Church, 7494 N 600 W, Decatur, Indiana with Pastor Christopher Hirschy officiating. Burial will follow at Salem Magley Cemetery.
Friends and family will be received from 3-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur, Indiana and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Preferred memorials can be made to Survive Alive House at the Safety Park or Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home.
