Janet Dutton Walters was born on June 24, 1935, in Elmira, New York, to Rolland Nelson Dutton and Gladys Evangeline Jones Dutton. Her brother Richard "Dick" Dutton lives in Wilmot Flat, NH, and her sister Virginia Lois "Loy" Dutton (deceased). Jan married David Walters on December 1, 1956, in Phoenix, Arizona. They had four children: Mark, Peter (wife Margery); Stephen (wife Jere Patricia “JP”); and Rebecca (husband Andrew Lyons). Jan has two grandchildren: Corrie (husband Matthew Voss) and Sydney (husband Michael Bomani) along with four great-grandchildren: Faith, Caleb, Bella, and Ava Voss.
Jan's early life was marked by loving parents who were devoted followers of Jesus. In her youth, she joyfully responded to God's call. Her life work was marked by a sincere commitment to "Love God and Love others" (Mark 12:28-34). These commitments were manifested by:
Ceaseless Gratitude : In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. (1 Thessalonians 5:18)
Oh, that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! (Psalms 107:8)
Tireless work ethic : And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men. (Colossians 3:23)
Hunger for Scripture : Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. (Psalm 119:105)
Devotion to Prayer : Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4: 6-7)
