James Edward “Jim” Ritter , 86, of Decatur, Indiana, passed away on January 26, 2022, at his homestead.
He was born September 19, 1935 in Adams County, Indiana, the son of the late James H. Ritter and the late Margaret E. (Sudduth) Ritter. James was united in marriage to Kathryn N. Singleton on June 5, 1955. She preceded him in death on June 14, 2015.
Jim retired as plant superintendent at Zollner Piston Corporation with 30 years of service.
He found great pleasure in gardening, assisting others as their handyman in fixing anything he relaxed and enjoyed his time spent with his wife and family at their lake properties over the years at Big Turkey and Hamilton Lake. But above all the worldly possessions and hobbies he enjoyed, his love of family including his grandchildren and great grandchildren was the focus of his life.
Survivors include his daughter, Teresa “Teri” (William) Wemhoff of Decatur, Indiana; daughter, Tamela “Tami” (Max) Miller of Decatur, Indiana; son, Steven Ritter of Fort Wayne, Indiana; daughter, Tana (Jeff) Sheets of Decatur, Indiana; brother, Larry D. (Betsy) Ritter of Decatur, Indiana; sister, Shirley A. Lyons of New Haven, Indiana; sister, Bonnie L. Bulger of Plymouth, Indiana; sister, Janice S. Norris of DeLeon, Texas; loving and faithful caregiver, Shelly Lockwood of Decatur, Indiana; eleven grandchildren, Mandi (Mike) McGraw, Nick Wemhoff, Annie Wemhoff, Marci (Cody) Thomas, Joe Wemhoff, Stephanie (Todd) Brager, Derek (Emmie) Miller, Samantha (Kory) Kimpel, Ben (Amber) Ritter, Justin (Krista) Sheets & James (Kaitlyn) Sheets, twenty three great grandchildren, Maria Wemhoff, Brooke Burgin, Lexie Saunders, William Wemhoff, Hayden McGraw, Carter Thomas, Jillian Wemhoff, Scotlynn Seabold, Colin Seabold, Aidan Wemhoff, Hunter McGraw, Zoey Wemhoff, Chandler Thomas, Owen Wemhoff, Hudson Brager, Cameron Thomas, Harrison Brager, Korbin Kimpel, Bryson Brager, Jensen Ritter, Kash Kimpel, Remington Ritter and Deacon Sheets; and one great-great grandchild Paisley Saunders.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana with Pastor Harold Klinker officiating. Interment will follow in the Decatur Cemetery, Decatur, Indiana.
Friends and family will be received from 4-8 p.m. Monday, January 31, 2022 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur, Indiana and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the funeral home.
