James "Jim" A. Darr

James A. “Jim” Darr, 74, of Ossian Indiana passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at Ossian Health Care in Ossian, Indiana.

He was born on September 3, 1948, in Decatur, Indiana to the late Dwight F. Darr and the late Gladys W. (Wynn) Derr.

He worked at Decatur Industries, Decatur Boat Factory, and he retired from Phelps Dodge in Fort Wayne, after 29 years of service.

Jim enjoyed baseball, especially the Chicago Cubs.  He loved model trains, and set up a train set in his home basement.

Survivors include two sons, James “JJ”A. Darr Jr. of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Steve (Erika) Darr of Florida; sister, Cheryl L. (Jerry) Kelsey of Willshire, Ohio; and three grandchildren.

Jim was preceded in death by one daughter, Nichole Darr in infancy; and one sister, Judith A. Crabill.

A funeral service for Jim will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur with Pastor Ryan Marsh officiating. Burial will follow in the Decatur Cemetery.

Family and friends will be received from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur.
