James D. “Jim” Ashley, 60, of Decatur, passed away Thursday, August 8, 2019 at St. Vincent Hospital – Indianapolis following a medical event suffered on Wednesday.
Jim was born on July 3, 1959 in Muncie, IN, the son of the late Loney Ashley and Jacqueline “Jackie” (Sturgeon) Ashley and she survives. Loney preceded Jackie in death in December of 1981.
Jim was responsible for the safe delivery of luxury motor homes across the country, most recently working for Newmar Corp. in Nappanee, IN. Prior to this, he was also an over-the- road truck driver for several companies.
Jim graduated in 1977 from Bellmont High School. He attended The Bell Church in Rockford Ohio.
Jim loved to fish along with attending rock and blues concerts.
Survivors include his mother, Jacqueline “Jackie” Ashley of Decatur and uncle Rev. David (Bettie) Sturgeon of Muncie.
He was preceded in death by a brother who was stillborn.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 15 at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home – Decatur with Pastor Mark Rutledge officiating. Final resting place will be in the Black Cemetery in Albany, IN following services.
Friends and family will be received from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home – Decatur and one hour prior to services on Thursday also at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are to The Bell Church, in Rockford, Ohio.
