Helen L. Stetler

Helen L. Stetler, 82, of Rockford, Ohio and formerly of Willshire, Ohio passed away Friday, June 30, 2023 at her residence.

She was born on July 20, 1940, in Mercer County, Ohio to the late Thurman A. Carr and the late Mary M. (Searight) Carr. Helen was united in marriage to Jack L. Stetler on November 19, 1960 in Pleasant Mills, Indiana, and he preceded her in death on November 14, 1989.

Helen was employed at Parkway Middle School as a school cook for 18 years before her retirement. She also worked as a cook at Wren Tavern in, Wren, Ohio, Ziggy’s in Convoy, Ohio and Manley’s in the canning barn for over 30 years.

Survivors include two sons, Brent L. Stetler of Monroe, Indiana and  Eric L.(Melinda) Stetler of Rockford, Ohio; two daughters, Jackie K. Ogg of Decatur, Indiana and  Sheri A. (David) Wannemacher    of Willshire, Ohio; two brothers, Bill D. Carr of Ohio City, Ohio and Fred D. Carr of Desota, Missouri; three sisters, Mary E. Riley of Ohio City, Ohio, Leona M. Parks of Van Wert, Ohio, and Patsy  Halliwill of Scott, Ohio; brother-in-law, Robert Dawson of Van Wert, Ohio; seven grandchildren; Chris (Abby) Ogg, Chad (Mandy) Ogg, Ashley (James) Scheumann, Josh (fiancé Kara Kauffman) Stetler, Trent (Kayla) Wannemacher, Schrader (fiancé Abbey Giere) Stetler,  and Sarah Stetler; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Helen was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Candice Wannemacher; son-in-law, Mike Ogg; daughter-in-law, Lisa Stetler; two brothers, Dean, and Jim Carr; and four sisters, Marjorie (Marshall) Hicks, V. June (Charles) Chilcote, Sandra K. Ziegler, and Janet A. Dawson.

Private family services will be held at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home – Decatur with David “Snuffy” Smith officiating and burial will follow at the Willshire Cemetery.

Preferred memorials can be given to the Willshire Fire Department and be mailed to the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home at 520 N. 2nd St. Decatur, IN 46733
