Helen M. Lanier, 96, of Decatur, Indiana passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at Adams Woodcrest.
She was born on November 4, 1924 in Charleston, West Virginia to the late Dennis Sheldon Wheeler and the late Margaret Ellen (Grishaber) Wheeler.
Helen was united in marriage to Albert Annunziata in 1945, he preceded her in death.
She graduated from Charleston High School in 1942. Helen was a member of First Baptist Church in Decatur and served as a deaconess. She was involved in the Ever Welcome Club, Shakespeare Club and Research Club where she served as the president for two years.
Helen was employed and retired after 20 years from American Telephone and Telegraph in 1985. She worked with the American Red Cross and Blood Bank in Decatur in her spare time.
She enjoyed reading and walking around town.
She is survived by her daughter, Rosemarie (David) Weiland of Decatur, Indiana; a son, Robert Annunziata of Decatur, Indiana; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Jarvis and Margaret Childers and one brother, Charles Wheeler.
A graveside service will be held 12 noon on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens in Cross Lane, West Virginia.
Friends and family will be received from 2-4 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. Thursday, March 25, 2021 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur, Indiana. An additional period of visitation will be held Saturday, March 27, 2021 at the Tyler Mountain Funeral Home from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Family asks that masks be worn.
Preferred memorials are to ACCF-Cancer Foundation.
Arrangements are by Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur, Indiana.
