Gregory Allen Galligher

July 20, 1941 — December 31, 2020

Diana Louise (Kever) Galligher, 78 of Monroeville, passed away on Friday, November 20, 2020 at 11:08 a.m. at the DuPont Hospital – Ft. Wayne.  Her husband, Gregory Allen Galligher, 79, of Monroeville, passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2020 at 4:18 a.m. at the Parkview Randallia Hospital in Ft. Wayne.

Diana was born on August 5, 1942, in Monroeville, the daughter of Norbert and Marium (Gremaux) Kever.  Greg was born on July 20th, 1941 in Monroeville to Kenneth and Marie (Fox) Galligher.

Diana and Greg were united in marriage on November 20, 1964 at St. Louis Catholic Church – Besancon.  This year, they celebrated 56 years of marriage.

Diana and Greg were parishioners of St. Rose Catholic Church, Monroeville.  She was a member of the American Legion Post #420 Auxiliary and the Besancon Historical Society.  Diana was a graduate of the St. Joseph Catholic Grade School in Monroeville and the Monroeville High School Class of 1960.   Greg was also a graduate of St. Joseph Grade School in Besancon and Hoagland High School Class of 1959.  Greg was a member of the American Legion Post #420.

Diana was a homemaker, also volunteered at school and loved to make costumes and crochet for her children. Greg was employed for over 30 years with the Fort Wayne Dana-Spicer Axle plant, retiring as an International Facilities Engineer.  Greg’s only split in service at Dana was due to his service to our country in Vietnam.  Greg’s combat tour of duty in Vietnam was from 1967-1968 with his enlistment being from 1966-1969.  He received an honorable discharge following his tour after having achieved the rank of SPC5 (E-5).  Greg later in life became a disabled veteran due to his time in Vietnam.

Diana loved her family, puzzles, bowling, genealogy, and flowers. She was a lifelong lover of music and was a proud grandmother who enjoyed her grandchildren’s recitals.

Greg loved spending time with his family, watching his kids and grandkids play sports, attending Notre Dame football games with family, tinkering with cars, bird-watching, science fiction, and fishing.

Greg and Diana are survived by their two sons, Brian (Jennifer) Galligher of Delaware, OH and Kirt (Erica) Galligher of Westwood, NJ; a daughter, Colleen (Michael) Hoover of Elkhart; 7 Grandchildren:  Ashlynn and Meghan Galligher, Keegan, Brady, and Kiley Galligher, and Travis and Maclean Hoover.

They are survived by her brother, Dennis (Velvet) Kever of Fort Wayne, IN along with sisters-in-law, Janice Kever of Harlan, IN; Denise Kever of Auburn, IN; and Kay Galligher of Monroeville, IN; 32 nieces and nephews and many great and great-great nieces and nephews also survive.

Diana was preceded in death by her parents Norbert and Miriam Kever; her 2 brothers:  Gerald Kever and Gregory Kever.  Greg was preceded in death by his parents:  Kenneth and Marie (Fox) Galligher, his siblings David Galligher, Dorothy (Michael) Michalec, Gloria (Bud) Bouse, Kenneth (Eleanor) Galligher, Donald (Patricia) Galligher, Phyllis (Jack) Schoeph, and  James Galligher.

A Joint Mass of Christian Burial for Greg and Diana will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at St. Rose Catholic Church, Monroeville with Father Maicaal Lobo officiating.  There will be limited seating available.  Additionally, the Mass will be livestreamed on the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home Facebook page.  Masks are required.  Following the Mass, Greg and Diana will both be buried at St. Rose Catholic Cemetery in Monroeville with military graveside honors being provided for Greg by the American Legion Post #420.

Family and friends will be able to visit from 5-8 p.m. on Monday in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, and Monroeville.  Masks will be required and family will practice physical distancing.

Greg and Diana’s family would request that preferred memorials be directed for Masses to the St. Rose Catholic Church; St. Rose Catholic School; Audubon Society, or the USO.

Arrangements are by Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home – Jacobs Chapel in Monroeville, Indiana.
