Gloria Ann Sorg, 84, of Hoagland, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
She was born on June 26, 1939 in Wabash County, Indiana to the late John Houser and the late Lenchen (Alexander) Houser.
Gloria was united in marriage to Ervin Sorg on April 17, 1971 at St. Joseph Catholic Church – Hessen Cassel.
She was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church – Hessen Cassel.
Gloria graduated from Chester High School in North Manchester. After high school, she worked at Werking Photography Shop. She also worked for Marks Drug Store and Dr. Stevens Veterinary Clinic. During the early years of their marriage, she was a homemaker, and took great pride in taking care of her family. After her children were older, she went back to work and retired from Fort Wayne Cardiovascular Surgeons.
Gloria loved spending time with and spoiling her children and grandchildren. Her grandchildren fondly remember the play days and sleepovers during their breaks from school. She loved to bake and cook homemade food for the family. She loved crafts, especially crocheting, cross stitching and sewing, and shared that knowledge with her granddaughters. Her flower gardens were her pride and joy, especially her peonies, hostas, and lilacs.
Survivors include her husband, Ervin Sorg of Hoagland, Indiana; daughter, Angela Sorg of Fort Wayne, Indiana; son, Keith (Janell) Sorg of Fort Wayne, Indiana; daughter, Diane (Jeff) Zinn of Fort Wayne, Indiana; sister, Faye Weaver of Hoagland, Indiana; sister, Colleen (Don) Irelan of North Manchester, Indiana; brother, Eric (Jo) Houser of Larwill, Indiana; grandchildren, Noah Boggs, Alayna Zinn, Sierra Zinn, and Steele Sorg; and nephew, Michael Houser.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Gary (Connie) Houser, and her nephew, John Houser.
A Mass of Catholic Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, April 15, 2024 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church – Hessen Cassel with Father William Kummer officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery – Hessen Cassel.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday, April 14, 2024 from 12 noon to 4:00 p.m. at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home – Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville and one hour prior to the Mass on Monday at the church.
The Holy Rosary will be recited on Sunday at 4:00 p.m. at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home – Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville
Preferred memorial can be given to Masses, Hoagland Area Advancement Association, or donor’s choice.
