Geraldine D. "Gerri" Jones

Geraldine D. “Gerri” Jones, 103, of Decatur, IN passed away Saturday afternoon, October 5, 2024, at Adams Woodcrest Assisted Living.

Born May 13, 1921 in Adams County, IN, Gerri was the daughter of the late Leland Ray and Eithel (Laughrey) Ray.

Gerri was united in marriage to Gearld N. Bixler on April 27, 1941 in Anderson, IN, and Gearld preceded her in death on April 16, 1975. Gerri then married Lawrence L. “Larry” Jones on December 18, 1976 in Decatur, and Larry passed away on November 21, 2021.

Gerri graduated from Pleasant Mills High School in 1939. She was a member of Pleasant Mills United Methodist Church. She was also a volunteer for the Hope Chest in Decatur and served on its Board for several years. Gerri enjoyed sewing and quilting.

In addition to being a homemaker, Gerri worked for Scott’s Foods, Inc. for 12 years, retiring in 1982.

Gerri is lovingly survived by her daughter, Donna (Bob) Shraluka of Decatur, IN; son, Greg L. (Teresa) Bixler of Adairville, KY; step-son, Gary W. (Susan) Jones of Geneva, IN; step-daughter, Jana (Bob) Shafer of Geneva, IN; step-son, Steve Jones of Geneva, IN; brother, Ned L. Ray of Decatur, IN; sister-in-law, Doris Ray of Decatur, IN; 21 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husbands, Gerri was preceded in death by her brother, George W. Ray; daughter-in-law, Nancy Jones; grandson, David Jones; and sister-in-law, Margaret Ray.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur with Pastor John McCullough officiating.

Burial will follow at Tricker Cemetery, Monroe, IN

There will be a visitation from 11:00 a.m. until the start of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur.

Preferred memorials are to the Pleasant Mills United Methodist Church or Woodcrest Assisted Living.
