Gail Joan Wurm

Gail Joan Wurm, 98, of Monroeville, Indiana was welcomed into Heaven on January 4th, 2023, at Adams Heritage in Monroeville, after a short illness.

She was born on January 13, 1924, in Allen County, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Dora (Marquardt) Gable.

Gail graduated from Hoagland High School in 1941.She married the love of her life Vincent R. Wurm on December 19, 1942. They were happily married for over 64 years until his death in May 2006.

Gail had a long career as an ICU nurse at Parkview Hospital, and was an inaugural member of the Monroeville EMS.

She’ll be remembered for her fiery red hair, her spunky personality, and her deep love of Jesus.

Gail is survived by son, Bernard (Linda) Wurm of Decatur, Indiana; daughter, Sheryl Ahlersmeyer of Tucson, Arizona; son, Stan (Peggy) Wurm of Dunnellon, Florida; son, Kevin Wurm of Monroeville, Indiana; daughter, Jacque (Kim) Ruble of Monroeville, Indiana; son, Brian (Lynn) Wurm of Monroeville, Indiana; 19 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Vince in 2006; her older siblings, Marguerite (Martin) Fredrick; Sidney (Mildred) Gable; and Isabelle (Herbert) Corville; son-in-law, Richard Ahlersmeyer; and a grandchild, Bradley Wurm.

Services will be private. Burial will be held at Monroeville Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Monroeville, or Monroeville, EMS and can be mailed to the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home (520 N. 2nd. St. Decatur, Indiana).
