Eva I. Gerardot, 103, of Monroeville, Indiana passed away early Wednesday morning, June 10, 2020, at Grey Stone Health & Rehabilitation Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
She was born on September 22, 1916, in Oxford, Indiana to the late Henry F. Knefelkamp and the late Mary (Sote) Knefelkamp. Eva married Lawrence E. Gerardot on June 15, 1940, at St. Louis Catholic Church, Besancon and he preceded her in death on March 21, 1995.
Eva was a member of the American Legion Post #420 Auxiliary in Monroeville where she was known as the “Poppy Lady”.
She retired from General Electric in Fort Wayne with 21 years of service and helped her husband with the farm.
Eva loved gardening, canning, and sewing.
She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Evon Gerardot of Monroeville, Indiana; daughter-in-law, Nancy Gerardot of Monroeville, Indiana; granddaughter, Tammy (Troy) Beckley of Auburn, Indiana; granddaughter, Sarah (Walter Brady) Gerardot of Huntingtown, Maryland; grandson, Joe (Jenny) Gerardot of Monroeville, Indiana; and four great-grandchildren, Hailey Gerardot, Levi Gerardot, Skylar Gerardot, Cash Gerardot, and baby due in November of 2020.
Eva was preceded in death by two sons, Max G. Gerardot and Larry W. Gerardot; grandson, Everett Wayne Gerardot; three brothers, Carl, Henry and Ernest Knefelkamp; three sisters, Rose Kimberlin, Lizzie Reynolds, and Mildred Medsker; and three half-sisters, Mary Ann Bahlinger, Anna Childress, and Ada Anstett.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 13, 2020, at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel in Monroeville with Pastor Ralph Klinker officiating. Burial will follow in Monroeville Memorial Cemetery.
Family will receive friends from 12 noon to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 13, 2020, Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel in Monroeville.
Preferred memorials can be given to the American Legion Post #420 Auxiliary.
