Eugene M. Hill

Eugene M. Hill, 90, of Decatur, Indiana passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2019, at Adams Woodcrest in Decatur.

He was born on April 13, 1929 in Van Wert, Ohio to the late Eular H. and Cleo A. (Krick) Hill. Eugene married Betty M. Kukelhan on May 7, 1955 and she preceded him in death on February 11, 1988.

Eugene was honorably discharged from the United States Army in 1953. He served in Europe during the Korean War.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Decatur. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #43, VFW Post #6751, Elks Lodge #993 and Eagles Lodge #2653 of Decatur.

Eugene retired in 1990 from Central Soya following 20 plus years of service. He was also a lifelong farmer.

Eugene was a sports enthusiast and took great delight in attending all of the grandkids sporting events. He loved IU basketball and the Chicago Cubs.

He is survived by a son, Stanley Hill of Wren, Ohio; son, Steven (Ann) Hill of Decatur; son, Brian (Judy) Hill of Decatur; son, Thomas (Jaime) Hill of Decatur; son, James (Rita) Hill of Decatur; brother, Ronald (Sue) Hill of Decatur; sister, May Hill of Decatur; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Eugene is preceded in death by two sisters, Melba Maxwell and Clara Hill; and one grandson, Drake Hill.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2019, at Zion Lutheran Church in Decatur with Pastor James Voorman officiating.

Family and friends will be received one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday, July 23, 2019.

In lieu of flowers, Gene has asked that preferred memorials be given to Zion Lutheran School.
