Ella (Beachey) Yoder, 84, of Berne, Indiana, passed away on Sunday afternoon, April 13, 2025, at her daughter, Esther’s home in Uniondale, Indiana.

She was born on October 1, 1940, in Geauga County, Ohio to the late Daniel J. and Emma J. (Miller) Beachey. On December 31, 1964, she married William Alfred Yoder in LaGrange, Indiana. They attended the New Covenant Fellowship in Collett, Indiana.

Ella was a homemaker, who enjoyed reading, gardening, and canning foods.

She loved flowers and wanted to give everyone a tour of her beautiful flower beds. She also enjoyed playing baseball in her younger years and with her children and grandchildren. Ella was an excellent baker, who sold her delicious pies, cookies, breads, and many kinds of jams, jellies, and relishes at craft shows and flea markets. She also had her own bakery: Aunt Ella’s Baked Goods and More in Berne, Indiana for a period of time. In her free time, she liked to attend auctions, to go antiquing and thrift store shopping. She enjoyed wintering in Florida. Ella loved to sing and play harmonica for many people and won several prizes while playing harmonica at Blue Grass Festivals. She loved people and enjoyed giving backrubs to anyone who needed one.

Ella and her husband were married for 60 years on December 31, 2024. She is survived by her husband, William, and her children, Emma (Stacey) Stauffer of St. Marys Ohio, Robert (Freda) Yoder of Sarasota, Florida, Paul (Rosetta) Yoder of Berne, Indiana, Ruth (Stephen) Kettler of St. Marys, Ohio, Esther (Eli) Stutzman of Uniondale, Indiana, and Matthew (Noelle) Yoder of Bradenton, Florida. She is also survived by her siblings, Josiah Beachey of Hicksville, Ohio, Henry Beachey of Linn Grove, Indiana, Lydia Royer of Eaton, Ohio, Fannie Miller of Middlefield, Ohio, and William Beachey of Berne, Indiana; 22 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Johnny and Jacob; sister, Katie (Beachey) Brubaker; brothers-in-law, John Miller and Stanley Royer; sisters-in-law, Arvilla (Miller) Beachey and Vicki (Marshall) Beachey; and daughter-in-law, Tina (Payne) Yoder.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 19, 2025, at the West Missionary Church in Berne, Indiana, with Pastor Chuck Myers officiating. Burial will follow at the M.R.E. Cemetery in Berne, Indiana.

Family and friends will be received from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Friday, April 18, 2025, at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Yager-Kirchhofer Chapel in Berne, Indiana, and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

Preferred memorials are to Heartland Hospice, New Covenant Fellowship Church, or to the family- checks payable to Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home.
