Elizabeth I. McCullough

Elizabeth I. McCullough, 93, of Decatur, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at her residence. 

She was born on January 14, 1931, in Mercer County, Ohio to Don M. and Ethel C. (Wynn) Sheets. 

Elizabeth was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, where she was also a member of the Rosary Society.

Elizabeth was employed by General Electric, Duo Marines, Pace Arrow, CTS Corporation, Decatur Days Inn, and also at The Craft Shop. 

She enjoyed working with her hands sewing and doing needlework. Elizabeth was very talented at baking and canning for her family. In her spare time, she enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs and I.U. Hoosiers Basketball. 

Survivors include her son, Larry W. McCullough of Decatur, Indiana; daughter, Deborah K. Lengerich of Geneva, Indiana; son, Richard L. (Cheryl) McCullough of Noblesville, Indiana; daughter, Edith M. (Ruben) Alanis of Decatur, Indiana; son, John D. (Myra) McCullough of Hoagland, Indiana; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 27 great-great-grandchildren.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her two grandsons, Adam Alanis, and Nykolas Lengerich; daughter-in-law, Suzanne McCullough; son-in-law, Dave E. Lengerich; two sisters, Catherine Crowl and Betty A. Sheets; and five brothers, Glenn T. Sheets, Robert Sheets, William Sheets, Richard Sheets, and Buddy D. Sheets.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at the St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church with Father David Ruppert officiating. Burial will follow in the Decatur Cemetery. 

The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, December 16, 2024, at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur, Indiana, and one hour before the service at the church on Tuesday. 

The Holy Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home on Monday, December 16, 2024. 

Preferred memorials can be given to ACCF – Cancer Fund, St. Joe Catholic School, or Masses
