Eldora Fuelling

Eldora Fuelling, 92, of Decatur, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at Adams Memorial Hospital, in Decatur, Indiana.

Eldora was born August 25, 1932, to the late Theodore and Clara (Macke) Ewell. She was united in marriage to Delbert Fuelling on May 24, 1953, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Preble, and he preceded her in death July 2, 2004

In 1951, she graduated from Monmouth High School as salutatorian of her class and then worked at Lincoln Life for several years where she held a clerical position.

Eldora and her husband Delbert were members of St. Peter Lutheran Church Decatur. She was in the choir for 50 years and was active in other church activities, including assisting the Bereavement Committee with funeral lunches.

She and her husband always had a big garden and Eldora would spend many, many hours each summer canning and freezing the produce for their family. She also enjoyed putting puzzles together, doing word search puzzles, and in the last few years, playing Bingo weekly at Woodcrest Assisted Living. AND she never met a box of chocolates she didn't like.

Traveling became a passion for Eldora after Delbert retired from Dana. They loved going on trips with Brennaman Travel in Berne. Besides visiting almost every one of the lower 48 states, they toured the Canadian Rockies and Alaska. Eldora even took a 2-week trip to Hawaii and went zip lining in Maine!

Survivors include daughter Beth (Terry) Alspaugh of Decatur, Indiana; son Terry (Denise) Fuelling of Huntley, Illinois; daughter Cynthia (Chris) Kortenber of Angola, Indiana; daughter Lori (Kevin) Lee of Decatur, Indiana; brother Marvin Ewell of Decatur, Indiana; Ralph (Sharon) Ewell of Decatur, Indiana; six grandchildren, Trent (Tiffany) Alspaugh of Ossian, Indiana, Betsy (Nate) Parker of Decatur, Indiana, Kelly (Chris) Baxter of Roscoe, Illinois, Michael (Sara) Fuelling of Bolingbrooke, Illinois; Carrie (Michael) Till of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Shannon Lee of Grand Rapids, Michigan; three great-grandchildren: Matthew and Zachary Baxter, and A.J. Fuelling.

In addition to her parents and husband, Eldora was preceded in death by three sisters: Alverna (Louis) Reinking, Dorothy (Gary) Heckman, a sister in childhood Marlene Ewell, and sister-in-law Barbara Ewell.

A funeral service will be held Monday, April 14, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at St Peter Lutheran Church, Fuelling, North of Decatur. Burial in the church cemetery will follow.

Friends will be received from 1-5 p.m on Sunday, April 13, 2025, at Zwick's Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana.

Preferred memorials can be given to St. Peter Lutheran Church Fuelling, Heart-to-Heart Hospice of Fort Wayne, or the American Diabetes Association.
