Edwin “Ed” Carl Korte, 93, of Decatur, Indiana passed away early Tuesday morning, May 3, 2022 at Adams Memorial Hospital.
He was born on November 22, 1928 in Decatur, Indiana to the late Christel Korte and Rosina (Eickoff) Korte.
He was united in marriage to Dorothy Etzler on June 27, 1953 in Convoy Ohio. She preceded him in death on January 10, 2011.
Ed served in the Indiana Air National Guard for over 20 years.
He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Preble and the American Legion Post #43 in Decatur.
Ed graduated from Monmouth High School in 1947. He was a self-employed Carpenter.
He enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs baseball and umpiring.
Ed is survived by son, Ronald Korte of Decatur, Indiana; daughter, Karen (Jeff) Soldner of Roanoke, Indiana; son, Thomas (Gelana) Korte of Decatur, Indiana; son, Timothy (Kim) Korte of Roanoke, Indiana; daughter, Jean (Rich) Skaggs of Decatur, Indiana; seven grandchildren, Jeremiah Lenegar, Josh Korte, Brian Korte, Tyler Korte, Braden Korte, Kelsey Krauter and Jonathon Skaggs; five step-grandchildren, Rich Skaggs Jr., Lani Soldner, Nicole Soldner, John Geller and Cassidy Geller; ten great-grandchildren, Chase Lenegar, Dane Lenegar, Josie Korte, Emery Korte, Sawyer Korte, Maddox Korte, Archer Korte, Wyatt Korte, Walker Korte and Hudson Korte; six step-great-grandchildren,Tyler Sherrill, Trey Skaggs, Carlee Skaggs, Lincoln Pahl, Beau David and Jacob David.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Jim Hendricks.
There will be no services or visitation for Ed. A private burial will be held at a later date.
Preferred memorials are to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Preble.
Arrangements are by Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur, Indiana.
