Edward William Bultemeyer, 82, of Decatur, Indiana passed away Monday evening, October 4, 2021, at Covington Springs Care Facility in Fort Wayne.
He was born July 3, 1939 in Decatur, Indiana to William Edward and Milda (Scheumann) Bultemeyer. Ed was united in marriage to Bonnie Conrad on September 3, 1961 at Zion Lutheran Church, Friedheim.
He served his country in the United States Army.
Ed was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Decatur and prior to that a long time member of St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen. He was active in choir at both churches and also the Lutheran Chorale. Ed was also a longtime member of Lutheran Bible Institute where he served on the board.
He was a lifelong livestock and grain farmer on the family homestead. Ed was a longtime insurance salesman for Thrivent (formerly AAL) serving numerous clients in the Decatur & Fort Wayne areas. He also served his community on the North Adams School Board for eight years.
He enjoyed fishing and playing cards.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Bultemeyer of Decatur, Indiana; three sons, Ryan (Elizabeth) Bultemeyer of Beavercreek, Ohio, Dean (Amy) Bultemeyer of Fishers, Indiana, and Scott (Carrie) Bultemeyer of Fort Wayne, Indiana; daughter, Amy (Scott) Bean of Columbia City, Indiana; eleven grandchildren, Chloe Bultemeyer, Christian Bultemeyer, Conrad Bultemeyer, Rois Bultemeyer, Max Bultemeyer, Zeke Bultemeyer, Zane Bultemeyer, Sam Bean, Luke Bean, and Joel Bean; five brothers, Richard Bultemeyer of Fort Wayne, Indiana, James (Cheryl) Bultemeyer, Fritz (LouAnn) Bultemeyer, Stan Bultemeyer, and Jerry Bultemeyer all of Decatur, Indiana; three sisters, Marlene Duffey of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Rosie (Waldo) Bultemeier and Connie Hawkins both of Decatur, Indiana; and two brothers-in-law, Paul Miller of Decatur, Indiana and Denny Stoppenhagen of Hoagland, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Celia Bultemeyer; two brothers, Roland Bultemeyer and Steven Bultemeyer; two sisters, Eileen Miller & Kay Stoppenhagen.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 8, 2021, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Decatur with Pastor James Voorman officiating. Burial will follow at St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Bingen.
Family and friends will be received from 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, October 7, 2021, at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur and one hour prior to services Friday at the church.
Preferred memorials are to Worship Anew, Zion Lutheran Church, or Cure SMA (Spinal Muscular Atrophy in memory of granddaughter, Celia).
