Edna E. Mesing

Edna E. Mesing, 95, of Decatur, Indiana passed away Sunday evening, December 3, 2023, at Adams Woodcrest.

She was born June 7, 1928 in Decatur, Indiana to Adolph and Viola (Grote) Marbach.

On March 31, 1951, Edna married Ralph M. Mesing at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Decatur, Indiana and he preceded her in death on May 20, 2007.

Edna was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Preble where she had been involved in the Ladies Aid and LWML.

She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, crocheting, playing euchre, and going to the lake cottage at Big Long Lake.

She is survived by daughter, Sylvia (Al) Ensley of Hudson, Indiana; son, James (Patricia) Mesing of Jacksonville, Florida; son, Howard Mesing of Kendallville, Indiana; twin daughters, Darlene (Gerry) Ehle of Pleasant Lake, Indiana & Marlene (Jim) Vandre of Marysville, Ohio; son, Walter (Carla) Mesing of Decatur, Indiana; two brothers, Herbert (Lorna) Marbach & Richard (Helen) Marbach both of Decatur, Indiana; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and one on the way; & 4 great great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, James Arthur Vandre; four sisters, Linda Brenneke, Norma Mueller, Florence Bulmahn, and Edith Nierman; and a brother, Edward Marbach.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 11, 2023, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Preble with Pastor Andrew Yeager officiating.  Burial will follow at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Preble.

Family and friends will be received from 12 noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, December 10, 2023, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur and one hour prior to the funeral at the church on Monday.

Preferred memorials are to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Preble or Heart to Heart Hospice.
