Duane A. Moser, 73, of Decatur, Indiana passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2024, at Adams Woodcrest in Decatur.
He was born on August 27, 1951, in Decatur, Indiana to L. Gene and Florence (Bienz) Moser. Duane was united in marriage to Connie J. Hutker on September 12, 1969, at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Decatur.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Decatur and the Decatur Men’s Bowling League.
Duane graduated from Bellmont High School in 1969. He then attended Purdue University and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from Purdue University in Computer Science and Mathematics. He was employed at Raytheon as a Computer Science Technician for 30 plus years before his retirement in 2017. Duane also worked for the City Street Department, Adams County Landfill, and International Harvester.
Duane has always been a sports-minded person. He played softball, bowled in Decatur leagues, enjoyed a good round of golf, and pitching horseshoes. While growing up the Moser family vacationed in the Petoskey, Michigan area and this tradition continued as his family grew. A mandatory trip on all vacations involved a stop or two at a local ice cream shop.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Connie Moser of Decatur, Indiana; two sons, James “Jimi” (Shelia) Moser of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Travis (Amy) Moser of Decatur, Indiana; mother, Florence Moser of Decatur, Indiana; sister, Janet (Jack) Moser of Los Angeles, California; brother, Gary (Ruymi) Moser of Fort Wayne, Indiana; sister, Sandy (Dick) Steury of Decatur, Indiana; brother, Doug Moser of Huntertown, Indiana; and six grandchildren, Matthew (Jasmine) Burgin, Chloe Schell, Devin Moser, Brice Moser, Nicholas Moser and Lucas Moser.
Duane was preceded in death by his father, L. Gene Moser; and brother, Lynn Moser on January 26, 2017.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur with Life Celebrant Dave McIntire officiating. Burial will follow at the Decatur Cemetery.
Family and friends will be received from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials can be given to the ACCF- Angel Fund Alzheimer’s.
