Douglas Rademacher

Douglas Rademacher, 84, of Monroeville passed away Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at Parkview Regional Medical Center.

He was born on August 18, 1939, in Stendal, Indiana to the late Clarence Rademacher and the late Alice (Douglas) Rademacher. He was united in marriage to Donna Arnold on September 29, 1962, at Bethel Baptist Church in Stendal, Indiana.

Doug was a long-time member of East Liberty Church of rural Monroeville, Indiana and served the church as the Treasurer and Trustee.

He graduated from Oakland City University in 1961 and received his Master’s Degree from Ball State University. He began his teaching career in Bristol, Indiana for one year before his teaching career with East Allen County Schools for 33 years where he taught business and driver education. He enjoyed coaching junior high basketball and high school volleyball for many years.

After retiring from teaching, he began his “second career” doing outside painting and automotive painting. Doug also enjoyed bringing things back to life and spent countless hours restoring cars and antique tractors. In his spare time, he traveled to antique tractor pulls and was presented with many awards.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Rademacher of Monroeville, Indiana; daughter, April (Paul) Sonnefeldt of Lisle, Illinois; son, Kurt Rademacher of Hoagland, Indiana; brother, Dawn (Carol) Rademacher of Tennessee; three grandchildren, Alisha (Brian) Berning, Steven Sonnefeldt, and Drew Sonnefeldt; one step-granddaughter, Shenan Martin; and three great-grandchildren, Dakota, Gracie, and Jasper Berning.

Doug was preceded in death by a son, Douglas Wayne Rademacher; and a grandson, Derek Rademacher.

Private family services will be held. A Celebration of Life will be announced at future date.

Preferred memorials can be given to East Liberty Church or St. Jude Children's Hospital (mail memorials to Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home- 520 N. 2nd St. Decatur, IN 46733).
