Dorothy Joyce Hofstetter, 82, of Berne, loving mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully at Swiss Village-Sonnenblum on November 13, 2018.
She was born on August 16, 1936 in Pasadena, California to William & Mary (Wickham) Fabrin. She married Lyman Keith Hofstetter on June 21, 1957.
Dorothy was a graduate of John Muir Junior College, Pasadena City College and Indiana University-Purdue University.
She taught first grade at South Adams Elementary School for 28 years.
Dorothy was known for her creativity, her sewing ability, her flower gardens and her love of teaching children. Her love for all creatures, great and small, was known to all that knew her.
She is survived by two daughters, Deanne (Joseph) Umpleby of Phoenix, AZ and Skye Zuza (Jeanette Hofstetter) of Columbus, OH; son, Brian Hofstetter; and grandson, Cody Umpleby.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Johnson & Geneva Yale.
Preferred memorials are to Berne Elementary School, Emmaus Road Mennonite Fellowship in Berne, or Smith Veterinary Hospital in Berne.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 26, 2019 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Yager-Kirchhofer Chapel in Berne with visitation one hour prior to the service.
