Doris L. Thieme, 86, of Decatur, Indiana passed away on Friday, May 8, 2020, at Adams Memorial Hospital in Decatur, Indiana

She was born on August 11, 1933, in Adams County, Indiana to the late Fredrick H. Keuneke and the late Edna M. (Buuck) Keuneke. Doris was united in marriage to Lester F.W. Thieme on October 4, 1952, at Zion Lutheran Church, Friedheim and he preceded her in death on March 30, 1999.

She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Decatur and the Ladies Guild of the church.

She was a homemaker and farm wife.

Doris was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother who loved her family very much. She enjoyed quilting and sewing.

Survivors include eight daughters, Danene Shoaf of Decatur, Indiana, Dorene Serna of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Letha (James) Minick of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Loide (Jeffrey) Holtzclaw of Decatur, Indiana, Lynette (Roger) Hirschy of Wolcottville, Indiana, Dawn (Jeffery) Hummel of Monroe, Indiana, Dynall (James) Nelson of Greenfield, Indiana, and Lea Thieme of Decatur, Indiana: two sons, Lowell (Janice) Thieme of Hoagland, Indiana and Daniel L. (Jani) Thieme of Hoagland, Indiana; sister, Eileen (William) Zwick of Decatur, Indiana; two sister-in-law’s, Evelyn Keuneke and Faye Keuneke both of Decatur, Indiana; 28 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; ten step-grandchildren; eleven step-great-grandchildren; and one step-great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; step-mother, Elsie (Stinsmuellen) Keuneke; three brothers, Frederick W. Keuneke, Richard Keuneke and Robert Keuneke; son-in-law, Daniel Shoaf; and step-great-granddaughter, Lyncoln Ann Hess.

“A drive bye” visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 13, 2020, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Decatur. When a visitor arrives, they will be directed to follow a path which allows them to greet the family. You must remain in your vehicles at all times to ensure social distancing. This has been approved by the Adams County Health Department .

Private family services will be held Thursday, May 14, 2020, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Decatur with Pastor David Koeneman officiating. Interment will follow in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Decatur, Indiana.

Zwick & Jahn, along with Immanuel Lutheran Church, will be following the guidelines established by the State of Indiana in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. If you are not able to attend Doris’ funeral service, it will be streamed live and be available on the Zwick & Jahn Facebook page.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorial donations can be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church Endowment Fund, SPI Endowment Fund, Worship Anew, or the Donor’s choice.
