Doris M. Neuenschwander

May 27, 1942 — March 1, 2025

Doris Marie Neuenschwander, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, peacefully departed this earth on March 1, 2025, at her daughter's residence, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Born on May 27, 1942, in Decatur, Indiana, Doris was the daughter of Elmer and Margaret (Miller) Myers. She graduated from Adams Central High School in 1960.

Doris's career was marked by her commitment to the people she served. She began as a clerk at IGA grocery, where fate intervened when Ken V. Neuenschwander, her future husband, bought a pack of gum and asked her out. This sweet moment blossomed into a beautiful marriage, celebrated on October 27, 1961, at First Mennonite Church in Berne, Indiana. Doris would later work at CTS in Berne during the 1960s before dedicating 32 years as an office aide for South Adams Schools, retiring in 2010.

Doris had many interests that reflected her zest for life. Gardening brought her joy, as did gathering with family and friends for card games. She took immense delight in her role as a matriarch, fostering deep connections with those she loved. Whether sharing stories, laughter, or nurturing her grandchildren, her spirit radiated in every moment spent together.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Sheryl (Todd) Nussbaum and Valerie (Jason) Yoder, and her son, Darrin (Holly) Neuenschwander, all of Berne, Indiana. Doris also leaves behind her son-in-law, Allen Quinton, of Palmdale, California; her sister, Marilyn Herman, of Berne, Indiana; and her sister-in-law, Nancy Myers, of Decatur, Indiana. Her legacy continues with her nine grandchildren: Luke (Taylor) Nussbaum, Matthew (Lauren) Nussbaum, Cassie (Thomas) Jackson, Tyler Yoder, Megan Yoder, Makenna (David) Steffen, Paul (Hadi) Neuenschwander, Ella (Landin) Haggard, and Gabe Neuenschwander, along with seven great-grandchildren and two more on the way.

In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ken; her daughter, Cindy Quinton; and her brother, Richard Myers
