Doris Irene Emenhiser , 99, of Monroeville, Indiana, passed away on September 22, 2022, at her daughter’s residence in DeKalb County.
She was born March 11, 1923 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the daughter of the late Charles Hege and the late Clara (Grodrian) Hege. Doris was united in marriage to Leroy Emenhiser on September 28, 1941 and he preceded her in death on September 19, 1995.
For most of her life, Doris was an active participant and member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Monroeville, Indiana. She was a homemaker where she loved to garden, play cards, baking, and canning.
Survivors include her daughter, Karen (William) Schlemmer of Garrett, Indiana; daughter-in-law, Jeanette Emenhiser of Monroeville, Indiana; seven grandchildren, Stacey (Tim) Dealey, Jay (Sherri) Emenhiser, Sarah (Brian) Sutter, Cori Schlemmer, Traci (Nathaniel) Lehman, Kelsi (Jason) Matthew, Kayle (Christal) Schlemmer; 11 great-grandchildren, Nick Dealey, Zach Dealey, Chelsea Emenhiser, Cassidy (Dustin) Jackson, Cody Emenhiser, Caitlyn Emenhiser, Brooke Sutter, Taylor Sutter, Jadeanne Lehman, Evelyn Matthew, and Justin Matthew.
She was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Emenhiser.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home – Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville, Indiana with Rev. Dr. Kathleen Haller officiating. Interment will follow in the Monroeville Memorial Cemetery, Monroeville.
Friends and family will be received two hours prior to services at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home – Jacobs Chapel, Monreville, Indiana on Wednesday.
Preferred memorials can be made to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Monroeville.
