Donald L. Bragg

Donald L. Bragg, 93, of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away Tuesday afternoon, January 16, 2024, at Stillwater Hospice in Fort Wayne.

He was born on October 3, 1930 in Hartford City, Indiana to Albert Atwood Bragg and  Kathryn Hope (Bittner) Bragg Scott. Don married Gertrude Jean “Trudy” Roberts on April 11, 1970 in Monroeville, Indiana and she preceded him in death on February 27, 2014. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, and was honorably discharged in 1952 after attaining the rank of Radioman Third Class.

Don was a member of Monroeville United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir. Don had a beautiful voice and sang Opera. He was also a member of the American Legion in Monroeville and Waynedale.

He retired from Challenge Tool and Manufacturing in New Haven, Indiana.

Donald enjoyed his “bluegill fishing.” In his younger years he enjoyed bowling and coaching little league baseball in Monroeville. Don and his buddies enjoyed watching sports every Sunday together.

He is survived by son, Michael Haffner of Dayton, Ohio; daughter, Valerie Stimpson of Farmville, Virginia; son, Daniel (Candace) Haffner of Centerville, Ohio; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son, Steven Haffner; two brothers, John & Richard Bragg; and son-in-law, Wade Stimpson.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 26, 2024, at Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel in Monroeville, Indiana with Pastor Harold Jones officiating. Burial will be held at the Monroeville Memorial Cemetery at a later date.

Family and friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel in Monroeville, and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials in Donald’s name can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
