Debra Lynn Ross, 67, of Decatur, Indiana passed away early Monday morning, July 11, 2022, at Adams Woodcrest in Decatur.
She was born on October 12, 1954 in Wausau, Wisconsin to the late Jack Smiley and Mildred (Meyer) Smiley. Deb was united in marriage to Michael Glenn Ross on June 30, 1984 at Salem United Church of Christ.
She was a member of Salem Magley Church, where she was the Superintendent of the Children’s Department, a Sunday school teacher, and a youth group leader. She gave her time and love at volunteering for Love Inc. and Meals on Wheels.
Deb was a 1972 class graduate from Northrop High School. She was an Insurance Adjuster for Brotherhood Mutual in Fort Wayne, a loan officer for First Bank of Berne, also was a bank teller for Bank of Geneva, she worked at M&M Market as a clerk, Swiss Village in housekeeping, Bi-County Services in administrative management, Dietary manager for Chalet Village in Berne, and she was a sales representative for Wabash Valley Magazine.
She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading, painting, baking and making gifts for people. Above all she loved being a mother and grandma.
Deb is survived by her husband, Michael Ross of Decatur, Indiana; son, Ryne (Miranda) Ross of Decatur, Indiana; daughter, Lorah (Robert) Roxas of Fort Wayne, Indiana; three step-daughters, Jamie (Skye) Bower of Warren, Indiana, Shaunda (David) Runkle of Kingsland, Indiana, Kristin (Rusty) Myers of Decatur, Indiana; five grandchildren, Lauren Ross, Ella Ross, Landon Ross, Amelia Ross, Elodie Roxas; eight step- grandchildren, Ashlie, Clay, Georgia, Harper, David, Chanler, Grace, Jeffery; seven step-great-grandchildren, Sutton, Leighton, Micah, Granger, Bryar, Emmersyn, Kambreigh and one on the way.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 15, 2022 at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur with Pastor Christopher Hirschy officiating. Burial will follow at Salem Magley Cemetery.
Friends and family will be received from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 14, 2022, at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur and one hour prior to the service on Friday.
Preferred memorials are to Riley’s Children Hospital.
