David Leroy Nahrwold, 80, of New Haven, Indiana passed away Thursday, March 9, 2023 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
He was born on September 15, 1942 to the late Herbert H. Nahrwold and the late Esther (Obert) Nahrwold.
David was united in marriage to Delores Gallmeyer on August 4, 1967 at St. Paul Preble Lutheran Church in Decatur Indiana. She survives.
David served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, being honorably discharged at the rank of Staff Sergeant.
David was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church Gar Creek, rural New Haven. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #330 in New Haven.
He was employed by Blackwells Department Store for over 35 years. He also worked for Thrivent Financial, where he retired from.
Survivors include his wife, Delores Nahrwold of New Haven, Indiana; son, Rod (Joyce) Nahrwold of New Haven, Indiana; son, Troy Nahrwold of Chesapeake, Virginia; sister, Darlene Haugen of Columbia City, Indiana; five grandchildren, Kyle, Kirk, Robert, Brianna, and Emily Nahrwold; and one great-grandchild, Serenity Nahrwold.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, March 14, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church Gar Creek, with Pastor Michael Blodgett officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul Gar Creek Cemetery.
Friends and family will be received from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Tuesday at the church.
Preferred memorials can be given to Central Lutheran School, New Haven or St. Paul Gar Creek Church.
