David E. Myers, 70, of Decatur, Indiana, passed away on December 4, 2020 at his residence surrounded by his family. His death followed a year-long battle with cancer.
He was born on September 23, 1950 in Decatur, Indiana, the son of the late James M. Myers and the late Juanita M. (Noll) Myers. Dave was united in marriage to Brenda Feasel on December 19, 1970 in Decatur, Indiana and she survives following almost 50 years of marriage.
Dave graduated from Bellmont High School in 1968. Following his graduation, he attended the Reppert School of Auctioneering and the Bill Miller Real Estate School and the Troyer School of Real Estate, graduating from all. David was the founder and owner of Town & Country Real Estate/Auctioneers from 1990 until his retirement in 2018.
He was a member of Bethel Brethren Church in Berne and had been attending the Fellowship Missionary Church in Ft. Wayne for many years. He was also a member of the Indiana Auctioneering Association and the National Hot Rod Association
Dave was the youngest stockholder in the Reppert School of Auctioneering. He served for 8 years on the Board of Directors of the Indiana Auctioneers Association. In 1996, Dave won the Indiana State Bid Calling Championship. Dave was also inducted into the Indiana Auctioneers Association Hall of Fame in 2006. Dave also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and their many activities, including volleyball, baseball, wrestling. In his “spare time”, he went with Brenda as they camped and trail rode with their horses, most frequently in Brown County, Indiana. Dave enjoyed drag racing around the country and spent many hours working on engines and cars with his son, Jeff. In addition, he also spent much time with motorcycles, tractor pulling with his father, and tinkering with anything that was mechanical or older. He would also often attend Bike Week in Daytona along with the Sturgis Motorcycle rally.
Survivors include his wife Brenda Myers of Decatur, IN; a son, Jeff Myers of Decatur, IN; a son Tim (Katie) Myers of Decatur, IN; a sister, Beverly (Roger) Gaunt of Decatur, IN; a sister, Judy (Ronnie) Frank of Monroe, IN and 4 grandchildren; Madalynn Myers, Lilly Myers, Duke Myers and Gabriel Myers.
Dave was preceded in death by a brother; Edward Lee Myers (stillborn)
Private services for Dave’s family will be held Friday morning, December 11th at the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur followed by a public graveside service at approximately 11:45 a.m. at Decatur Cemetery with Pastor Joe Nass and Rev. Ernie Suman officiating. Those attending are asked to enter from the County Road 50 entrance off of US 224.
Friends will be received from 1-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur. In complying with the directives from the State of Indiana for Adams County, 40 people will be allowed in the building at one time. Our staff will monitor those numbers and you may be asked to wait in your car before entry, please be patient. Masks are required and Dave’s family also asks you to maintain your physical distancing.
