David H. Nussbaum

David H. Nussbaum, 90, of Berne, Indiana, passed away on Monday, February 3, 2025, at Adams Memorial Hospital in Decatur, Indiana.

David was born on April 3, 1934, in Adams County, Indiana, the son of the late Albert Nussbaum and the late Grace (Reinhard) Nussbaum. David was married to Carolyn J. Egly from July 18, 1953, until her death on December 2, 2007. David married Louise (Stauffer) Kuhn on August 8, 2009, and she survives.

David was a former employee of Berne Furniture and LICA Construction/Meshberger Stone Corporation. He was affectionately known by his co-workers as “Super Dave.” David and Carolyn were active members of the West Missionary Church where they served as custodians for 15 years. David enjoyed traveling, photography, and sports. He was a jack-of-all-trades. He built his own home, and helped with numerous family DIY projects. He was a faithful attender of his children and grandchildren’s many activities. 

David is survived by his wife, Louise Nussbaum of Berne, Indiana; daughter, Kimela (Roger) Young of Berne, Indiana; son, Bradley (Deborah) Nussbaum of Fort Wayne, Indiana; sister, Betty Lehman of Berne, Indiana; brother, Ted (Claudia) Nussbaum of Woodburn, Indiana; sister, Mary Jo (Roland) Roth of Angola, Indiana; four grandchildren: Erica (Marcel) Guevara of Elkhart, Indiana, Natalie Young of Marion, Indiana, Logan (Elyse) Nussbaum of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Tiffany (Adam) McComb of Fort Wayne, Indiana; and five great-grandchildren: Melody, Tessa, and Eva Guevara, Logan Nussbaum, Jr. (LJ), Declan McComb, and baby girl McComb on the way.

Also surviving are step-children, Douglas (Susan) Kuhn, Greenwood, Indiana, Janet (William) Thomas, Albion, Indiana, Gregory (Stephani – deceased) Kuhn; seven step-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren, and two step-foster great-grandchildren.

David was preceded in death by his wife Carolyn Nussbaum, brother, Robert Nussbaum, and his sister, Pauline Habegger.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, February 8, 2025, at the West Missionary Church in Berne, Indiana. Interment will follow in the M.R.E. Cemetery in Berne, Indiana.

Family and friends will be received from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 7, 2025, at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Yager-Kirchhofer Chapel in Berne, Indiana, and from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the church on Saturday.

Preferred memorials can be given to the West Missionary Church Missions Fund.
