David L. Baker

David L. Baker, 67, of Monroeville, Indiana passed away surrounded by his family Monday evening, December 30, 2024, at his residence.

He was born January 1, 1957, in Fort Wayne, Indiana to the late Gilbert L. and Mary E. (Wagner) Baker.

David had a kind and gentle spirit that left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He cherished the company of his family, friends, and his beloved dog, Axle. Music, reminiscing about treasured memories, and celebrating his birthday at the stroke of midnight on New Year’s Eve were among his greatest joys. He also loved watching reruns of classic TV shows from the 70s and 80s and had a keen interest in tracking the weather. David’s life was a testament to kindness and the simple joys that make life meaningful. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.

He is survived by his sister, Gilda L. (Tim) Schroeder of Monroeville, Indiana; sister, Kay A. Gordon of Monroeville, Indiana; sister, Brenda Zimmerman of Monroeville, Indiana; sister, Linda Korkowski of Garrison, Minnesota and numerous nieces and nephews who cherished him dearly.

David was preceded in death by his brother, Terry J. Zimmerman; and brother-in-law, Don Gordon.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 4, 2025, at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel in Monroeville, Indiana with Pastor Charlie Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Monroeville Memorial Cemetery in Monroeville, Indiana.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 3, 2025, at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel in Monroeville, Indiana, and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials can be given to the Monroeville EMS or the Monroeville Fire Department.
